LaudyMcB Designs use Scottish and Irish tweeds to create a range of contemporary home furnishings and accessories using British heritage fabrics.
Each product is hand made with loving care and uses the best quality sourced materials. We use British materials as much as possible and source all our tweeds directly from the smaller, less well known mills.
We design and make products inspired by our rural Essex surroundings. Mixing our two loves; the countryside and tweed, we make stunning everyday items as well as those exclusive pieces you want to save for someone or somewhere special.
Inspiration can be clearly seen whether it is the colours used or the line and shape of the products, each and every product had been lovingly designed and created especially with you in mind. The fields that surround our workshop provide the most inspiration, with our daily wildlife visitors, it is hard to ignore their fun and quirky features and shapes, which is why many of our products having characterful creatures on them in some way or other.
WHERE IT ALL STARTED...
LaudyMcB Designs was created by director and designer Laudy Brown.
Laudy studied BA/Sc Hons, Textile design for fashion and interiors at the University of Huddersfield, where she specialised in weaving and woven fabrics. From an early stage in her time at University she designed and manufactured fabrics that were rustic in style and this lent itself perfectly to the experience she gained with natural fibres and dyes and in weaving mills and industrial environments.
After successfully gaining her degree Laudy moved back to Essex where she started teaching textiles to 11-18 year olds. Now 10 years on... she continues to try to motivate the next generation to appreciate British made products, whilst working independently as a freelance designer, and as director, designer and maker to create all the products branded as "LaudyMcB Designs".
